Accessibility Statement
Eagle Remodeling Services LLC ("Eagle Home Improvements") is committed to ensuring this website and our services are accessible to all individuals, including people with disabilities. We strive to provide an inclusive experience that complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Maryland accessibility law.
1. Standards we follow
Our website is designed and built to conform with:
- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA — the international standard published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title III — providing equal access to places of public accommodation, including digital ones
- Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act — accessibility standards for digital content
- Maryland Equal Access Law (State Government Article §10-503 et seq.) — public-facing accessibility
2. Accessibility features on this site
- Semantic HTML: proper heading hierarchy, landmarks, and meaningful labels for assistive technology
- Keyboard navigation: all interactive elements (links, buttons, forms, drawer menu) are operable via keyboard alone
- Visible focus indicators: all focusable elements display a clear focus ring (brass-color outline)
- Color contrast: text contrast ratios meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA (4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text and UI components)
- Skip-to-content link: available at the top of every page for screen-reader users
- Image alt text: all informative images have descriptive alternative text; decorative images use empty alt to be ignored by assistive technology
- Responsive design: works at 320px viewport and up, supports up to 200% browser zoom without loss of functionality
- Reduced-motion respect: all animations respect the
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query - Form labels: every form input has an associated visible label and required-field indication
- Plain-language content: we use straightforward language and avoid unnecessary jargon
- No autoplay video or audio: nothing plays without user action
- Document structure: consistent navigation across pages and predictable page layouts
3. Conformance level
We aim for full WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance. As of May 1, 2026, we believe the website substantially conforms with this standard. We periodically audit the site using both automated tools (Lighthouse, axe-core, WAVE) and manual testing including screen reader review (VoiceOver, NVDA), keyboard-only navigation, and color contrast verification.
4. Limitations and ongoing work
We are committed to continuous improvement. Some content may have residual accessibility limitations:
- Embedded third-party content (e.g., financing partner widgets, if added in future) may have limitations outside our direct control. We work with partners to push for accessibility upgrades.
- Some older project case-study photographs may have limited descriptive alt text — we are working to improve descriptions iteratively.
- Documents in PDF format (warranty, contract templates) are accessible-tagged where reasonable; alternative accessible formats are available on request.
5. Compatible technology
This website is designed to work with:
- Recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge (current and prior major version)
- Screen readers including VoiceOver (macOS, iOS), NVDA (Windows), JAWS (Windows), TalkBack (Android)
- Browser zoom up to 200%
- Keyboard-only navigation
- Speech recognition software (Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Voice Control on macOS/iOS)
6. Accessibility for in-person services
Beyond the website, Eagle Home Improvements ensures equal access to our remodeling services:
- Communication accommodations: we accept TTY and video relay calls (Maryland Relay 711); we can arrange American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters for meetings on reasonable advance notice (typically 5 business days).
- In-home consultation: available at the property; if a property is not accessible to our team, we offer remote video consultations as an alternative.
- Document accessibility: contracts, warranty documents, and project plans are available in large print and accessible PDF format on request, at no cost.
- Aging-in-place expertise: we specialize in accessibility-focused renovations including curbless showers, grab-bar reinforcement, comfort-height fixtures, and ADA-compliant doorway widths. See our bathroom remodeling page for details.
